The 2024 rivian r1s adventure dual motor standard pack aims to bring smart design and copious amounts of on- and off-road capability to the battery-electric SUV segment. Rivian’s three-row, seven-passenger R1S rivals gas-powered SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Range Rover as well as electric sport-utes like the Tesla Model X and Audi Q8 E-Tron. Its impressive power and off-road capability help the Rivian stand out from the crowd.
Rivian offers the Dual-Motor R1S in a handful of different power outputs, ranging from 533 horsepower to 665 hp with the Performance upgrade. It also comes in a Quad-Motor configuration that puts an electric motor on each wheel and can produce up to 835 hp. Rivian also lets buyers customize their R1S with a range of battery packs and motor configurations.
2024 Rivian R1S Adventure Dual Motor Standard Pack: Key Features
For 2024, Rivian added a lower-priced Standard Battery option to its lineup that boosts the R1S’s available range to 260 miles and cuts its price by $7,800 to $74,800 (plus $1,800 factory-to-dealer delivery charge). Rivian doesn’t publicize the exact energy capacity of its battery options but CEO RJ Scaringe has said the new LFP standard battery is 35 percent less expensive than the old lithium-ion one.
Rivian’s tech stack has some kinks but is still a huge step up from other EVs on the market. The big center screen is easy to read and has a decent level of functionality, including Amazon Alexa voice assistant integration. But the Rivian lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, which is a significant handicap in today’s market.
